Katey Laurel


Denver-based Folk-pop songstress Katey Laurel crafts both radio-friendly pop tunes and lush, cinematic songs for film and TV. The common thread is the intelligence of her lyricism and the honesty of her voice.  Katey has been honored as a finalist in the Tucson Folk Festival Songwriting Competition, a winner and alternate in two categories of the Walnut Valley Festival NewSong Contest in Winfield, KS and a showcase artist selected for the Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati, OH. She is a Great American Song Contest Finalist and International Songwriting Competition Semi Finalist 2013.  Her music has been featured as part of Microsoft Windows 7 “Playlist 7” and Heineken “Ultimate Playlist” sponsored song programs, and she was one of 7 national finalists in the Nine West “Voices of Vintage America” contest.  Most recently, she has been nominated as “Best Local Band” by Denver ABC Channel 7’s “A-List”, Westword “Singer/Songwriter 2011” and she was a Southwest Regional finalist and Colorado winner in the 2011 Texaco Country Showdown.  As a live performer, Katey has shared the stage with Howie Day, Herbert Gronemeyer, Matt Morris, Katie Herzig, Bill Mallonee, Karla Bonoff, Braddigan (of Dispatch), The Bittersweets,  Blue Oyster Cult, Red Molly, Trevor Hall, Nashville Star finalist Tamika Tyler and others. Notable venues she has performed include The Hotel Cafe, The Bitter End, The Bluebird Cafe, Hard Rock Cafe, Fox Theatre and Gothic Theater.


She has been played on KALC, KMNT, KBCO, KFMU, KOTO and a number of other Triple A radio stations around the country on a number of international radio stations as well.  Her songs have been placed in several independent film soundtracks, MTV’s “Catfish”, Logo’s “The Baby Wait” and a Fisher-Price “Dora The Explorer” promo.
